Open Doors® is the only long-standing, comprehensive information resource on international students and scholars in the United States and on American students studying abroad for academic credit. Open Doors features graphic displays, data tables, and policy-oriented analyses, and is the essential resource for those concerned with U.S. international educational exchange. The Institute of International Education (IIE), one of the largest and most experienced higher education exchange agencies in the world, has conducted an annual statistical survey of international educational exchange activity into and out of the United States since 1948, with support from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs since 1972. The results of the survey are published annually as the Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange.
Open Doors data tables are also available online, where you will find additional resources, data, and commentary not contained in this report. Also featured online are historical student mobility data and a library of resources for people seeking expert opinion on international mobility issues.
