Through our understanding of program design and implementation, our evaluations measure impact holistically to document the effects of scholarship, fellowship, and leadership programs.

The Agricultural Transformation Initiative Fellowship and Scholarship Fund (ATI FSF)
The Agricultural Transformation Initiative Fellowship and Scholarship Fund (ATI FSF), funded by the Foundation for a Smoke-Free World through its affiliate, the ATI, and administered by the Institute of International Education, aimed to strengthen the capacity of researchers and professionals in Malawi to reduce the country’s reliance on tobacco exports.

Australian Education International (AEI)
The paper summarizes the key differences between the data collection systems of both countries and identifies best practices in Australian data collection which can be used to improve data collection efforts in other countries, as well as ways in which countries can collaborate to move toward the common goal of better cross-national comparability of mobility data.

Cargill Global Scholars Program (CGSP)
Since 2011, the Cargill Global Scholars program has provided leadership development for over 600 students who received scholarship funding, training, and mentoring from Cargill employees.

Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program (CADFP)
The Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program (CADFP) is a scholar fellowship program for educational projects at African higher education institutions. Offered by IIE, the program is funded by a grant from Carnegie Corporation of New York (CCNY).

China-U.S. Scholars Fellowship
Program (CUSP)
The China-U.S. Scholars Fellowship Program (CUSP) was a critical one-time fellowship program to advance the exchange of scholars and students between the United States and China from 2021 – 2023.

Ciência sem Fronteiras
In July 2011, Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff announced the creation of a new scholarship program known as Ciência sem Fronteiras, a multiyear initiative to send 75,000 fully funded Brazilian students abroad for training in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields, with an additional 25,000 scholarships expected to be funded by the private sector.

Generation Study Abroad (GSA) Impact
Generation Study Abroad (GSA) is a five-year initiative to mobilize resources and commitments with the goal of increasing and diversifying the number of U.S. students studying abroad by the end of the decade.

The Greek Diaspora Fellowship Program
The Greek Diaspora Fellowship Program was funded by a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and implemented by the Institute of International Education (IIE) in collaboration with the Fulbright Foundation in Greece.

Higher Education Readiness (HER)
The Institute of International Education’s Higher Education Readiness program (HER) provides young women in secondary school from underserved communities with a pathway to university.

IIE Centennial Impact
IIE’s work has a direct, tangible impact on the lives of individuals and the lives of those in the communities that support them. Alumni of programs administered by IIE said that the experiences and skills they acquired during their programs led to positive outcomes in their careers and personal lives, inspiring them to give back to their communities and improve their organizations.

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC)
The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) commissioned the Institute of International Education (IIE) to carry out a comprehensive evaluation to inform its second strategic objective—Building the Leaders for Today and Tomorrow—and to evaluate IDRC’s investments in strengthening the capacity of graduate students and early career researchers to be leaders in their fields.

International Fellowships Program Alumni Tracking Study
The Ford Foundation’s pioneering, decade-long International Fellowships Program (IFP) supported advanced studies for social change leaders from the world’s most vulnerable populations. By promoting greater opportunity in higher education in developing countries, the program enabled most alumni to return to their home countries and dedicate themselves to improving conditions in their communities.

International Visitor Leadership
Program (IVLP)
The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State’s (DOS’s) premier professional exchange program. Through short-term exchanges with interlocutors in the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields develop lasting relationships with their American counterparts.

Japan-U.S. Women Leaders Dialogue
In conjunction with the Academic Cooperation Association (ACA), IIE coordinated this survey among international students in the U.S. on their attitudes towards higher education in the U.S., and their motivations in choosing a college or university in the U.S.

Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE)
The RISE program provides funding and placement support to Canadian and U.S. science and engineering undergraduates for summer internship and research opportunities in German higher education institutions.

The Russell Berrie Fellowship in
Interreligious Studies
For ten years, the John Paul II Center for Interreligious Dialogue, an initiative of The Russell Berrie Foundation (RBF) and The Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), has supported the next generation of religious leaders with a comprehensive understanding of and dedication to interfaith issues and action (2008 – 2018).

Scholar Rescue Fund (SRF)
The Institute of International Education’s Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF) is the only global program that arranges, funds, and supports fellowships for threatened and displaced scholars at partnering higher education institutions worldwide, including inside their home regions.

Syria Consortium for Higher Education
in Crisis
In 2012, the Institute of International Education (IIE), in collaboration with Jusoor and the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), announced a commitment to action at the annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative that included providing emergency grants to students whose education had been interrupted by the crisis, and to scholars whose lives were threatened in Syria.

U.S. Department of State
IIE has worked extensively with the U.S. Department of State on evaluations for various programs, including Fulbright Program, Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program, Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, and TechWomen.

U.S.-Indonesia Partnership Program for Study Abroad Capacity (USIPP)
Launched in 2010 by IIE, in collaboration with the Indonesian International Education Foundation (IIEF), USIP brought together six U.S. and six Indonesian universities to collaborate on expanding academic partnerships between U.S and Indonesian institutions.

Women Enhancing Technology
(WeTech) Initiative
Since its launch in 2013, the WeTech Seed Fund for Women + Girls in Computer Science in Africa has been a gateway for young African women to begin their careers in Information and Communications Technology, or ICT.
