The Spring 2025 issue of the IIENetworker magazine, Career Ready Grads: Global Learning Boosts Workforce Skills, offers insight into ways international experiences, skill building, and professional development are interwoven to enhance career goals and outcomes. International education experiences have proven to be high-impact learning practices that allow students to develop career skills and build their career readiness. Incorporating global learning increases the return on investment that students seek from their degrees. IIE’s research demonstrates that intentionally tying career goals to study abroad and participation in global internships positively impacts both skill-development and students’ ability to link their experience to in-demand skills when speaking to employers. This issue brings perspectives from higher education, national programs, and international corporations that are purposefully connecting students and participants to advance their skills and competencies to contribute to a global workforce.
