IIENetworker Spring 2016: Faculty-Driven Internationalization

The IIENetworker spring 2016 edition features the work of IIE’s Deputy Vice President of Scholar Exchanges and Executive Director of CIES, María de los Ángeles Crummett. Having received two Fulbright awards to serve in Colombia and Japan, she brings strong industry expertise to IIE is author of this season’s IIENetworker piece titled “Faculty-Led Internationalization: Challenges, Opportunities, and Strategic Approaches.” Ms. Crummett discusses how to spport and cultivate globally minded faculty, sharing about the breadth of Fulbright Scholar opportunities and how institutions can make effective use of them to ensure deep and long-lasting internationalization outcomes. “For many students, their first steps in considering an education abroad program begin in the classroom,” writes Crummett. 

The spring 2016 edition explores the topic of campus internationalization and the many ways faculty can and are championing internationalization efforts. It also includes a variety of perspectives from faculty, administrators, and other professionals on how institutions encourage and support faculty engagement.
