USAID Sustainable Higher Education Research Alliances
USAID Sustainable Higher Education Research Alliances (SHERA) was a higher education partnership program in Indonesia supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The program, which ran from May 2016 through January 2021, sought to increase the research capacity of Indonesian higher education institutions (HEIs). Its approach focused on supporting collaboration between Indonesian universities, as well as with U.S. HEIs, in the field of science, technology, and innovation. As a result, world-class research has been produced at Indonesian HEIs and researchers, including women, have greater access to international professional development opportunities. With the support of the USAID SHERA program, Indonesian HEIs are now better positioned to produce the next generation of scientific leaders to solve the country’s development challenges.
