May 23, 2023: READ expands to include private universities
On Tuesday, May 23, 2023, the Albanian-American Develompent Foundation (AADF) held an event to announce a further expansion of READ as well as to publicly share information on the selected fellows for READ’s second year. The event was honored by the presence of AADF’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Michael D. Granoff, AADF Co-CEOs, Mr. Martin Mata and Mr. Aleksandër Sarapuli, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Ms. Evis Kushi, READ finalists from the first and second members of the READ Advisory Council, and representatives from Higher Education Institutions across Albania.

May 20, 2022: READ signs new collaborative agreements with the universities in Albania
AADF in collaboration with IIE, organized the READ Expansion Fellowship Program with the distinguished presence of the Chairman of Board of Trustees of AADF, Mr. Michael D. Granoff, AADF Co-CEOs, Mr. Martin Mata and Mr. Aleksandër Sarapuli, Minister of Education and Sports, Ms. Evis Kushi, members from Advisory Councils of READ Program, and representatives from Higher Education Institutions all over the country.
During the expansion event, data from the first round of applications from Resident and Diaspora Scholars was presented.
During the ceremony, the AADF Co-CEOs signed a collaborative agreement with 7 Universities in Albania:
- Agricultural University of Tirana
- Sports University of Tirana
- Aleksandër Xhuvani University, Elbasan
- Fan S. Noli University, Korça
- Aleksander Moisiu University, Durrës
- Luigj Gurakuqi University, Shkodër
- Eqrem Çabej University, Gjirokastër
READ plans to bring up to 100 researchers of Albanian Diaspora Scholars to work with higher education institutions in Albania on collaborative research projects, Ph.D. supervision, curriculum development, and co-teaching.
December 12, 2021: The Albanian-American Development Foundation Launches the Research Expertise from the Academic Diaspora Fellowship Program
The Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF) announced the launch of the Research Expertise from the Academic Diaspora Fellowship Program at an event held at their offices in Tirana on Thursday, December 2. The event was attended by higher education representatives from across Albania, officials from the Ministry of Europe and of Foreign Affairs, civil society organizations and academics from within Albania and from the Diaspora.
