The Institute of International Education (IIE), with the support of MacArthur Foundation, has opened four student calls of the Midwifery Training Scholarships and Capacity Building Scholarship. The program is oriented to enrolled midwifery students that will be able to obtain a license to practice midwifery in Mexico’s health sector. From its start in 2017 until today, the program has supported 382 students.

June – December 2017 Call
183 students were granted scholarships
• 111 undergraduate students (Licenciatura en Salud Reproductiva y Partería, Técnico en Partería and Licenciatura en Enfermería y Obstetricia)
• 27 graduate students (Especialidad en Enfermería Perinatal)
• 45 students completing their practicum

January – July 2018 Call
246 students were granted scholarships
• 154 undergraduate students (Licenciatura en Salud Reproductiva y Partería, Técnico en Partería and Licenciatura en Enfermería y Obstetricia)
• 37 graduate students (Especialidad en Enfermería Perinatal)
• 55 students completing their practicum

August – December 2018 Call
257 students were granted scholarships
• 132 undergraduate students (Licenciatura en Salud Reproductiva y Partería, Técnico en Partería and Licenciatura en Enfermería y Obstetricia)
• 30 graduate students (Especialidad en Enfermería Perinatal)
• 95 students completing their practicum

January – June 2019 Call (Last Call)
A total of 223 students were granted scholarships
• 103 undergraduate students (Licenciatura en Salud Reproductiva y Partería, Técnico en Partería and Licenciatura en Enfermería y Obstetricia)
• 26 graduate students (Especialidad en Enfermería Perinatal)
• 94 students completing their practicum

The program has supported students from all of Mexico, including students from 25 schools in 12 states. The program is currently on its fourth and last cycle of scholarships.
