Environmental Sustainability
Increasing environmental sustainability is an urgent and pressing challenge facing the world today, with many impacts already being felt across communities worldwide. Immediate and innovative action is essential to support a response to the challenge and ensure a safe, resilient future for all. In its fifth year, the IIE Centennial Fellowship sought proposals for projects that actively address environmental sustainability at the global, regional, and/or local levels. Each Fellow’s project centers on providing resources, education, and support to communities that are immediately impacted: coastal communities in Jamaica, women farmers in rural West Bengal, smallholders in Panama’s critical Biological Corridor, recycling waste textiles in Cambodia, and engaging secondary school students in Karachi, Pakistan in environmental and civic education. The Fellows will share their work throughout the year through their blogs, and we invite you to learn more about their projects.
