About
The inspiration for the Hilton Worldwide Teacher Treks Program originated from Conrad Hilton’s vision of “world peace through international travel and trade.” Sponsored by Hilton Worldwide, The Hilton Teacher Treks Program was meant to bring people together and foster greater understanding between the U.S. and other countries. This program allowed U.S. primary and secondary level teachers to go abroad for 2-3 weeks to travel or teach, explore and experience culture firsthand during their summer break. The Institute of International Education (IIE) administered the Hilton Worldwide Teacher Treks Program on behalf of Hilton Worldwide from 2011-2015.
As nurturers of future generations of travelers, teachers play an important role in spreading understanding of other cultures and can have a profound impact on their students’ lives. Whether analyzing a historic work of art or telling a riveting account of an ancient civilization, teachers are the ultimate conduits to cultural enlightenment. This program allowed teachers to see the world and bring their experiences back to the classroom.
