HDAA
Mission Statement
The Hellenic Diaspora Academic Association is a global organization connecting scholars in Greece with members of the Greek and Cypriot academic Diaspora. Its mission is to provide pathways to scholarly excellence through collaboration for knowledge creation and dissemination, research, education, and mentorship.
History
At a meeting in Athens, Greece in November 2019, IIE launched the Hellenic Diaspora Academic Association (HDAA) during a day-long convening with Hosts and Fellows from the Greek Diaspora Fellowship Program (GDFP). During the convening, IIE hosted experts from other academic associations like the Modern Greek Studies Association and Fulbright Alumni Association of Greek Scholars and an open forum where Hosts and Fellows offered feedback about the purpose and activities of the Association. Since its inception, IIE has convened a Steering Committee comprised of GDFP Host and Fellow Alumni. The Steering Committee is responsible for the strategic planning, platform development and activities of the HDAA. In 2021, the HDAA Steering Committee will call for members to join the Association and announce a web-based platform for collaboration.
