Letters of Recommendation
This application requires three submitted letters of recommendations for students and two letters of recommendation for postdoctoral researchers and faculty.
Your recommenders should be professors, colleagues or supervisors who know your work well and can address your ability to succeed in the activities you propose. All letters are confidential and will not be shared with applicants. Letters of recommendation should be written in English.
Your recommenders will be asked to provide a 1-2-page letter addressing the following points:
- How long and in what capacity do you know the applicant?
- Comment on the applicant’s educational and/or professional background.
- If the applicant is applying for a teaching or a teaching/research award, discuss the applicant’s teaching and interactions with students and colleagues in an academic setting.
- If the applicant is applying for a study/research or a research/teaching award, discuss the potential significance of the study and/or proposed research and their ability to carry it out.
Once you register your recommenders, they will receive an automatic email with instructions on completing the online recommendation form. You can track the status of recommendations, send reminders and add/delete recommenders through this system before and after submission of your application.
If your recommender is having any trouble with the system, he or she should email CUSP@iie.org, and the program team will help.
