Centroamérica en Ascenso Fellowship
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)’s Centroamérica en Ascenso Fellowship will provide 35-40 human rights defenders from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua in continuing their anti-corruption work from a safe and enabling environment. Selected applicants will be provided with one to two-year fellowships at select partner U.S. higher education institutions (HEIs). The Centroamérica en Ascenso Fellowship falls under USAID/ECAM’s Regional Anti-Corruption Action Network (ReAcción) program.

The Centroamérica en Ascenso Fellowship aims to enable human rights defenders from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua to continue anti-corruption efforts. The fellowship seeks to enhance their skills and fosters leadership capabilities. With a focus on creating a safe and enabling environment, the fellowship contributes to advancing human rights and promoting accountability in the region.
Eligibility

- Applicants should reside in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, or Nicaragua and face threats hindering their anti-corruption efforts.
- Applicants residing in other Latin American countries as of spring 2019 are eligible.
- Applicants’ work must directly benefit their home countries.
- Applications from underrepresented groups such as women, persons with disabilities, LGBTQI+ individuals, returned migrants, and indigenous communities are strongly encouraged.
