Barsa Scholarships Program
Assisting graduate and undergraduate students from designated Latin American countries in defraying the costs of U.S. training in certain priority fields.
Program Update
The Barsa program will receive one round of nominations for new awards ahead of the 2016-17 academic year. Following the 2016-17 academic year, the program will be winding down and will not receive nominations for subsequent awards.
What was included?
The Barsa Scholarships Program awards are partial, supporting other monies for such items as cost of living or tuition and fees. Graduate awardees are renewable up to a total of two years; undergraduate awards are renewable up to a total of four years.
Who funded the program?
The fund was sponsored by the Brazil-based De Sa InterAmerican Foundation, a family foundation established in memory of Dorita Barett de Sa, which is dedicated to supporting higher education in Latin America.
