Greek Diaspora Fellowship Program
The Greek Diaspora Fellowship Program (GDFP) is a scholar exchange program for Greek universities to host Greek scholars from the diaspora in the areas of collaborative research, curriculum co-development and/or graduate/undergraduate student mentoring and teaching. The GDFP is funded by a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) to the Institute of International Education (IIE). The program is administered in collaboration with the Fulbright Foundation in Greece. In the pilot of the program, IIE supported 123 fellowships over four selection cycles that created collaborative, mutually beneficial engagements between Greece and her academic diaspora. Applying to the GDFP
The GDFP has a two-ended application process. A project request is submitted by a Greek host institution and a scholar application is submitted by a scholar in the diaspora.
Host
Any degree-conferring institution in Greece can submit a project request to host and collaborate with an eligible Greek Diaspora scholar on projects.
The host institution can collaborate with a specific scholar on the Project Request or submit without naming a scholar. If the host submits without naming a scholar, IIE will search their Roster of qualified candidates to find an appropriate match. Please email GreekDiaspora@iie.org if you plan to submit without naming a scholar.
Scholar
Academics born in Greek or Cyprus (or hold Greek or Cypriot citizenship) who currently reside in the Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa or the United States and working at institutions of higher education can submit a scholar application to the scholar roster. The scholar can work with a specific host institution on a project request or remain on the roster until a project that fits her or his expertise is submitted by a potential host in Greece.
