IIE Europe is managing the pre-screening process for the Klein Family Scholarship. IIE will pre-select 3 to 5 promising candidates, who will then be invited to apply to Sewanee directly. The ultimate scholarship winner will be selected by Sewanee’s Admissions Office, as part of the regular admissions process which the college undertakes annually.
Eligibility Requirements
In order to qualify for the scholarship, candidates must
- be citizens of Hungary
- be completing secondary school during the 2019-20 academic year
- be able to pursue a 4-year Bachelor’s Degree at Sewanee beginning in August 2020
- have high academic achievements and leadership potential
- have high level English language skills adequate for study at a U.S. college
Guidelines for Completing the Pre-Application
The pre-application and all supporting materials must be submitted in English. Applicants must submit 3 copies of all documents in their application package.

Selection
All applicants meeting the eligibility criteria will be considered by a screening committee organized by IIE. The selection will be based on the overall academic performance of the applicant, and the applicant’s goals, financial need and potential to benefit from study in the U.S. Candidates will be required to take an English language test. Winners of the pre-selection will be announced by mid-January in 2020 at the latest, and then invited to apply to Sewanee directly for the final admission and scholarship decision.
