At the end of this month 100 HER girls in Ethiopia from Addis Ketema and Fittawarari will graduate from high school. We are proud of their accomplishments and excited about their futures! IIE is now raising funds to assist with their transition to university, and we invite you to lend your support by making a donation by June 15.
IIE has raised over $13,000 and needs $1,400 by next week.
Your donation will help send a HER girl to university, and will give her the supplies and support she needs to succeed. Please share the HER donation site with your friends, on your social media, and help us help honor these graduates’ achievements.
The HER girls, who were all selected through a competitive application process three years ago, have worked hard to overcome obstacles so that they could not only complete high school, but become leaders in their schools and communities. By completing leadership and personal development workshops, English language classes, and academic tutoring, the girls have excelled in school and in life. They have had opportunities to meet and interact with inspiring Ethiopian women who have become role models for these young, under-served girls, inspiring them to finish school so they can have a better life and provide a safe, nurturing environment for their families. By investing in these girls, you are changing entire communities.
As Meron, a student at Fittawarari school said, “I want to study Medicine because I want my country, Ethiopia, to have more educated people in the field of Medicine.” In order to achieve these dreams, the HER girls will need ongoing financial support at university.
Please visit www.her.causevox.com and IIE will match any donation up to $15,000 through June 15. Help these girls reach their dreams!
Stay tuned for the next blog, which will focus on the graduation celebration in Addis Ababa on June 27th.
