WASHINGTON, D.C. April 1, 2012—The Institute of International Education (IIE) is hosting its 2012 U.S. Higher Education Fairs this fall in 14 cities throughout Asia, from September 18 until November 11. The fair series provides a unique opportunity for universities to expand and widen their presence in China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and India. University representatives will interact face-to-face with thousands of qualified students, expand academic exchanges by partnering with local universities and colleges, and network with local government and U.S. Consulate staff.

This year universities will be able to register and pay online through the new website www.iie.org/fairs. In addition, IIE will be offering important resources and opportunities to school representatives and students; for example, a networking event with local university representatives and a session for students interested in learning about scholarship opportunities to study in the United States. IIE will also be promoting its publications Funding for United States Study 2012, a comprehensive list of scholarships available for students interested in U.S. higher education and Intensive English USA, which provides information about Intensive English Programs in the United States.

"Participating in educational fairs organized by IIE was instrumental in building our brand and increasing name recognition in Asia," explains Audra Cryder, International Enrollment Manager from the University of Kentucky. "From China and India, to Vietnam and Indonesia, the events were attended by hundreds of highly qualified prospective students and their parents. We especially appreciate the seamless organization of these fairs and the support of the amazing in-country staff."

IIE's President and CEO, Allan E. Goodman, states, "IIE's fairs in Asia bring together prospective students and their families, and U.S. university leaders, exemplifying the Institute’s commitment to fostering mutual understanding, developing global leaders and ensuring that 'international' is a part of everyone's education."

For over 60 years, through its programs and initiatives in Asia, IIE has helped thousands of students learn about studying in the U.S. With a presence in the region dating back to 1962, IIE has developed institutional relationship and local expertise, benefitting students, governments, foundations and private companies. IIE's international offices manage scholarship and fellowship programs, provide academic testing and assessment, contribute to research on higher education, organize higher education fairs, contribute to building partnerships, provide leadership development and capacity training opportunities, and act as catalysts and advocates for policy reforms to achieve excellence in international higher education.
