Press Release

IIE Publication on Global Mobility Receives 1st Annual Best Book Award from the Comparative and International Education Society Higher Education Special Interest Group

Higher Education On The Move: New Developments In Global Mobility, published by the Institute of International Education with support from the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) Foundation, received the 1st Annual Best Book Award from the Comparative and International Education Society Higher Education Special Interest Group.

Higher Education on the Move explores the scale and nature of mobility, with analysis of specific developments and strategies world-wide that have contributed to its expansion. Authors describe phenomena including the emergence of global rankings, liberalization of the higher education sector through GATS, competitiveness in science and technology, and the Bologna process, and ask how these processes affect the most commonly discussed aspect of international education-the movement of students and scholars across national borders.

This book is the second in a new series of Global Education Research Reports published by IIE with support from the AIFS Foundation. The first book in this series was: U.S.-China Educational Exchange: Perspectives on a Growing Partnership. Other volumes include International India: A Turning Point in Educational Exchange with the U.S. (published in March 2010) and Innovation through Education: Building the Knowledge Economy in the Middle East (May 2010).
