Frauke Harnischfeger oversees the Institute's worldwide Human Resources function. She has a remarkable breadth of professional experience, both in the US and in Germany, in corporate, international institutional, and not-for-profit environments. Before joining IIE she was Vice President of HR at CHF International, a US-based not-for-profit operating in 25 countries, executing a variety of programs including many on behalf of USAID. In this role she was responsible for all the HR and key Business Services needed to support 2000 staff worldwide. Frauke also consulted briefly for another not-for-profit organization, Women for Women International, also based in the US. Earlier in her career Frauke worked at the International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank based in DC, as an HR Account Manager covering various world regions including US, Africa and the Middle East.
In Germany, Frauke was with Deutsche Bahn as Vice President for Executive Development, responsible for talent management and leadership development for 170 senior executives and their 65,000 staff. Previously Frauke had worked at a number of different Daimler business units in a variety of increasingly senior positions, in HR and Quality Management.
Frauke holds a Diploma in Greek, Hebrew and Latin from the Theological College in Ehingen, Germany and a Masters in Social Sciences from the University of Tṻbingen.
