The Institute of International Education (IIE) provides emergency support to international students during times of crisis.  Over the past two years, IIE’s Emergency Student Fund (ESF) has given over $1 million in urgently-needed grants so that nearly 400 students from Japan, Haiti, Libya, Thailand and Syria could continue their studies in U.S. colleges and universities and graduate better prepared to return home and help rebuild their countries.

Today, the greatest need continues to be Syria, where students both inside and outside the country face grave difficulties in continuing their education.  In March, IIE’s ESF gave over $90,000 to Syrian students in the U.S. who could not access resources to continue funding their own education.

Syrian students again need our help.  As the situation in Syria continues to deteriorate, students here face extreme financial need and the emotional turmoil of seeing friends and family back home being trapped, displaced or killed.  Please help us to meet this urgent need by donating to IIE’s Syria-ESF today.

You will be giving Syrian students funds for tuition, housing, books and other essential education supplies.  Most importantly, you will be giving them something far more valuable: hope.

As one Syria-ESF grant recipient said following our first round of grants, “I wish to … express my sincere appreciation and to thank you and the other members of the committee for your generous and kind help. It is a wonderful feeling to know that there are people who care and support students in seeking their education.”
