  • The top five places of origin in 2014 were Bangladesh, China, Indonesia and Nigeria.
  • Over 56,000 Malaysian students pursued a degree aboard. The top destinations include: the United Kingdom, Australia, United States, and Egypt.

Definitions

Outbound student: Malaysian students pursuing full degree programs or post-graduates abroad and does not include those who attend short-term courses overseas.

Private Higher Education Institution: Organizations or educational institutions, including universities or colleges or branch campuses approved and registered under the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996 (Act 555) which is not established or maintained by the Government.
