Talent Philosophy

We strive to create the best work environment possible to support our team members’ ongoing development. IIE’s model for Professional Growth and Achievement, “Grow with IIE,” plays an important role in the recruitment process as well as our team members' ongoing experience within the Institute.

IIE has created a "Professional Growth Model" that pinpoints the behaviors and attitudes needed to help you enhance your own capabilities and ongoing success at the Institute. This Model was developed with input from all IIE team members, regional and overseas, across programs and specialties, levels and divisions.

The CORE, the largest section, sits in the heart of the model and has been identified as important and appropriate for all IIE team members. The CORE contains seven competencies that highlight specific attitudes, expectations and actions that, used consciously and consistently, can change one's mindset and therefore one's behavior and outcomes. The three other sections, MANAGES PEOPLE, ADAPTS, and LEADS, are relevant for People Managers at the Institute and each have three key competencies.

The objectives of the model include:

  • Create a framework for hiring the right people for the right jobs;
  • Support team members so that they can have a productive and rewarding career at IIE;
  • Create a common language around performance in order to enable fairness and objectivity;
  • Retain high-performing team members and provide them with opportunities across the institute;
  • Create a stronger community of professionals;

The ultimate purpose of Grow with IIE: A Model for Professional Growth & Achievement is to serve not only as a resource and reminder on team members' route to self-empowerment and actualizing their highest potential, but also as a way of building an enduring, inclusive, strong sense of community – where we all speak a common language.
